Air Fryer Apple Cider Doughnuts

Print Recipe
A plate of sugar-coated donuts sits on a wooden board, with small donut holes and cinnamon sticks nearby.
Prep Time:15 minutes
Cook Time:6 minutes
Total Time:21 minutes

Ingredients

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 16.3 ounce can flaky biscuits I used the Grands kind
  • 1 cup apple cider

Instructions

  • Line a tray with parchment paper or set out a wire rack.
  • In a shallow bowl, whisk together the sugar and cinnamon and set aside.
  • In a small saucepan, add your apple cider and whisk over medium-high heat until it reduces slightly. Set aside.
  • Separate your biscuits and use the lid of a water bottle or soda bottle to cut out the middle of each biscuit.
  • Place a parchment round in the air fryer basket, or lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
  • Place 4 donuts in a single layer in the air fryer. Do not let them touch; if they do, remove one.
  • Air-fry at 350 for 3 minutes, flip, and air-fry for another 3 minutes.
  • Remove the doughnuts from the air fryer to the prepared sheet and repeat with the remaining biscuits.
  • Brush both sides of the doughnuts with the apple cider, then immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar, making sure every bit is covered.
  • Serve!

Notes

Tips, Tricks and Storage

  • Serve Same Day! These are best served the same day. *Pro Tip* You can air fry the leftover donut holes, too!
  • Don't Overmix the Dough: Mix until just combined so your doughnuts stay soft and fluffy. Overmixing can make them dense.
  • Work in Batches: Give each doughnut enough room in the air fryer basket to cook evenly — crowding can cause uneven browning.
  • Coat While Warm: Toss the doughnuts in cinnamon-sugar right after they come out of the air fryer so the mixture sticks perfectly.
  • Variations: You can swap apple cider for apple juice if that's what you have, or try a dash of pumpkin spice instead of cinnamon for a fun twist.
  • Storage: While these are best served the same day, store cooled doughnuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. To refresh, pop them back in the air fryer for a minute or two to revive the texture. They also freeze well. When you're ready to use them, just reheat directly from frozen until warm.
